The composition of the partnerships reflects our intention to develop a holistic approach
Sexuality is influenced by the interaction of biological, psychological, social, economic, political, cultural, ethical, legal, historical, religious and spiritual factors. As a result of this multiple influences, it is best understood as a complex and dynamic set of forces that influence the individual’s identity, social well-being and personal health.
Therefore, the composition of the partnerships reflects the intention of this project to develop a holistic approach. The consortium comprises a multidisciplinary team that includes, on the one hand, medical and social research organisations that are specialised in various aspects of age and sexuality, and on the other hand adult education specialists and educational research institutions across Europe that show an ambitious interest in addressing the needs of older People not only by participating in the development, but also in subsequent offering awareness rising and training measures. Their collaboration in this project will take into consideration the social and cultural diversity and also ensure the practicability and feasibility of the outcomes.
The medical and social expert organisations are:
University College of Health Science Slovenj Gradec (SI), with their basic mission to develop tertiary education in the region and to establish an optimal network of institutions for clinical training, carrying out quality pedagogical-educational and research programmes from the fields of nursing care and and other health and social sciences,
University Erlangen (DE) – Institute of Psychogerontology with expert contribution to health prevention in late life, life and living quality in old age, and offering training programmes for caregivers and health care providers
Irish Centre for Social Gerontology (IE) – focusing on research, education and training in the field of social gerontology in Ireland and internationally
University of Sheffield (UK) – investigating barriers that people at mid and later life experience when they want to seek help for sexual concerns and difficulties
The group of adult education specialists consists of adult education providers:
INTEGRA Human Development Institute (SI) - the central activities of the Institute are based on the development and the implementation of social innovations
E-C-C Association for Interdisciplinary Consulting and Education (AT) - educational research organisation, focusing on raising awareness for special needs in adult education and training
Università delle LIberEtà (IT) - the leading adult education centre in Udine fornadult education and training in the non formal sector of education. It counts around 4000 members and caries out almost 600 courses a year.
Greek Academic Network (EL) – expert for the development and provision of advanced ICT services and applications in teaching and learning
